The coolant is passing through them under pressure and high temperature, whereas the water-glycol-mixture is a corrosive medium for many materials. Due to the flow resistance inside respectively the required tightness outside the surface must be as even as possible. Because of those requirements LANXESS has e.g. developed the following Polyamide 66 grades:

• High resistance against coolant even at elevated temperatures
• Good processability in GIT / WIT providing good inner and outer surface qualities

Limiting factors

• Large cross sections (approx. 70 mm) result in big wall thicknesses, which promote defects such as shrink holes.
• Especially the WIT process requires tailored materials (see „materials“), standard materials cause unacceptable surfaces and push-out behavior.
